Coordination of psychosocial activities at the Jaffna District Level in Sri Lanka

In response to pressing needs, a mechanism for coordinating psychosocial activities evolved organically in the Jaffna peninsula of Sri Lanka following the Asian tsunami of 2004. The Mental Health Task Force attempted to coordinate both governmental and nongovernmental organizations, local and international, which were involved in psychosocial work.

Inter-agency coordination of mental health and psychosocial support for refugees and people displaced in Syria

The current crisis in Syria has greatly escalated need, while simultaneously damaging infrastructure within the country. In order for humanitarian efforts to be effective, understanding the mental health profile of the population concerned, pre-existing mental health system, resources and gaps, as well as an evaluation of the current service situation is vital.
